She changed her name and left the state.
What do we do
When we realize that
We don’t have to stay
The way
We are
And we can actually be
What
Or whoever
The fuck we Want.
It’s life right (And we’ve got just this one.)
Why attempt to be like the rest …
When we can be
Exclusive.
She changed her name and left the state
On a bus one night
It rained for hours
She watched out the window
Miles and miles of headlights
Through raindrop panes
And she let that bus take her away
She got off on a stop near the beach
3 am coffee in a diner
Unknown
Scribbling her new life in a journal ~
And
She stands on the street now
Recites poetry now.
Changed
Satisfied
Exclusive.
What do you do
When you realize that
You don’t have to stay?

I started writing this several months ago, an old song was playing that reminded me of my trip from Cincinnati to Florida… for some reason I didn’t think this poem was worth finishing. Stumbled across the scribbled draft today and figured I may as well touch it up and share. xo C
